The Office of Career Services became the Belk Professional Development Center in 2008. We are the hub of career and student professional development on campus and for the School of Continuing Education sites.
Located in the lower level of Goold Hall (in front of campus facing Tarboro Street),the Belk Center has built a compliment of professional development seminars designed to get students ready for interviews, graduate school and writing for professional settings.
We host Signature Seminars including Surviving the First 90-Days: How to NOT Get Fired and the K.I.N. (Knowledge, Image, Networking) Effect and offer web-based career assessment exams. Through an agreement with College Central, we offer an on-line database for finding jobs and careers that allows students and recent alumni from all majors to include not only a resume but an electronic portfolio of original works and writing samples!
We help students become employed. We have successful, on-going relationships with employers on the local and state levels and several private industry companies as well. Our students and graduates have been interned or gained full-time employment with organizations from the Office of the Governor of North Carolina to Nationwide Insurance to NC Correctional Institution for Women to Fox and ABC News to name a few!
Every student of Saint Augustine’s University is introduced to career readiness as early as freshmen year, and each graduate is required to complete a series of professional development seminars and competencies to be eligible for graduation.
