Saint Augustine's University held its first session of the 2012 Summer Orientation Advising and Registration (S.O.A.R.) Friday, June 15 on campus.

The S.O.A.R.’s sessions focus on introducing incoming freshmen to the collegiate atmosphere and the S.O.A.R’s staff covered various topics, ranging from the introduction of deans, residence halls staff, campus tours and Greek life.

“These S.O.A.R. sessions are an opportunity for students to have a clear idea about what it takes to complete registration and gather information about student programs and services,” stated Roland Bullard, Vice President of Student Development and Services.

Wilmington, North Carolina native, Shae Ford recently confirmed that she will be attending St. Aug in the fall as a freshman. “A couple of my friends go here and encouraged me to come,” stated Ford. “Today is going very well.” Tyrone Ford, Shae’s father considered the S.O.A.R. session an emotional day, "it’s a big day for me as well as her,” stated Ford. He went on to say, “I’m so proud of her completing 4 years of high school, I’m glad she wants to continue her education. A proud father I am.”

The next S.O.A.R session will run June 29-30.
