Let’s welcome our newest Falcons!

Saint Augustine’s University welcomes its newest Falcons: Barbara Scott Akinwole, Alfred L. Davis Jr., Courtney D. Brown and Ericka D. Hill.

Barbara Akinwole has been named the interim director of the Prezell R. Robinson Library. Akinwole has more than 30 years of professional experience in multi-type libraries, ranging from corporate to academic, with immediate experience in information management, including collection development and records management.

Akinwole, a graduate of Saint Augustine’s College (now University), earned her Master of Library Science degree from North Carolina Central University.

She is a member of the American Library Association. She has also been a member of numerous boards and the chair of several organizations including past president of the North Carolina Chapter of Special Libraries Association and former chair of the Raleigh Historic Districts Commission.

Alfred Davis has been appointed as the director of bands. Davis, who previously served as director of bands at Fayetteville State University, earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Hampton University.

He has served as director of bands at Hampton University, Delaware State University and Savannah State University. He has also served as a professor and instructor of music.

His professional memberships include College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education, North Carolina Bandmasters Association, Intercollegiate Music Association and the HBCU Band Directors Consortium.

Courtney Brown was recently appointed to the position of technology manager in Prezell R. Robinson Library. She graduated from Shaw University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies with a concentration in speech pathology and elementary education. Currently, she is working toward a Masters in Library Science at North Carolina Central University.

Ericka Hill is the evening librarian at the Prezell R. Robinson Library. She is a proud Falcon alumna. She earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in sociology. Shortly after graduating from Saint Augustine’s University, she earned her master’s degree in library information science at North Carolina Central University.
