A fun and informative line-up of activities is set for new and returning students at Saint Augustine’s University. Next week (Sept. 3-8) is Welcome Week – a week designed to kick off and set the tone for the Fall 2024 semester, according to Dr. Cindy Love, Associate Vice President of Professional Studies & Enterprise Services. 

“We want to engage them and create some excitement about the academic year,” Dr. Love said. “They made a choice to attend Saint Augustine’s University or to return here, and we want them to feel excited about the choice that they made – not only about this institution but about the unique HBCU environment. And we want students to get a chance to get to know one another.” 

Planned activities are as follows: 

Tuesday, September 3, 2024 

• Scavenger Hunt, MLK Student Union, 6 p.m.  Students will have an opportunity to explore and learn the campus’s history, the significance of the landmarks, University songs, and achievements.  

Wednesday, September 4, 2024  

• Advance Community Health Mobile Bus, Public Health Education Center, 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students, Faculty, and Staff will have an opportunity to experience Advance Community Health’s various offerings. Services will include blood pressure checks, diabetes assessments, and more.  
• Real Talk: Protect Your Brand Residence Hall (Student Leaders) 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, September 5, 2024  

• Voter Education/Registration, MLK Student Union, 11. a.m. to 1 p.m. 
• TRIO Welcome Back Event, MLK Student Union, 12:00 p.m. For all students.  
• Resumes Under Construction, Virtual, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.  
• Idol/Pajama Jam game night. MLK Student Union, 9 p.m. to 11 a.m. The Idol/Pajama Jam is our version of the TV show American Idol with a twist. Students will enjoy the fun and talents of their fellow students.  

 Tuesday, September 10, 2024 

• Resumes Under Construction, Virtual, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The seminar will explain the different types of resumes and how to construct a resume. It will also provide insights on how to enhance a resume for next-level success. Students will receive a team invite to participate.   
• Welcome Back Reception, MLK Student Union 220, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. McNair Students only 
• Double Dutch Contest, Mall MLK Student Union, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
