Dear Students,
HBCU First — a nonprofit startup increasing college success + career access for Black youth — is seeking candidates for their paid fall internship program.
Interested in 1-1 peer support in navigating HBCU life while building your brand and growing your network?
If so, HBCU First’s Near-Peer Mentoring Program cultivates meaningful relationships between college students while providing an opportunity to:
– network with HBCU students across the country
– gain exposure to industry leading companies and
– access professional development workshops.
Students with research experience, apply to HBCU Equity to help design & conduct primary research related to the socio-academic drivers of HBCU students.
Current open positions include Exploratory Program Lead, People Lead, Peer Researcher, Near-Peer Mentor, and First-Year Intern.

What we’re looking for:

- Resilience and adaptability to solve problems and discern priorities in a fast-pace environment.
- Proven leadership throughout your academic career (on or off campus).
- Previous selling and/or customer service experience (on or off campus; either through part time jobs, internship or academic clubs).
- Pursuing a Degree in: Management, Business Administration, Communications, Organizational Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Professional Selling (other related majors will be considered).
- Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings and/or weekend.
- Flexibility for relocation.
- Spanish language skills a plus.
Minimum Qualifications – Each candidate is expected to:
- Be completing their final year of undergraduate studies
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree prior to the intended full time start date.
- The position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.
- Have a valid, unrestricted United States (State Issued) driver’s license at least three months prior to start date, and access to an automobile to drive to various sales locations for duration of time in role.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Have physical ability to lift 25 – 45 pounds repeatedly when needed in daily execution
Qualifications / Requirements

- Currently pursuing a degree in: Engineering, Food Science, Operations/Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Organizational Leadership & Supervision, or Business Management (other related majors will be considered)
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Proven people/project leadership throughout your academic career (on- or off- campus)
- Previous experience in an operations environment (on- or off- campus; either through employment, internship, or academic clubs)
- Ability to work in an unstructured environment with the ability to make trade-off decisions quickly
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills
- Ability to give/receive constructive feedback
- Willingness to work flexible work schedules, including early mornings, evening and/or weekends
- Flexibility for relocation will allow for greater advancement opportunities
- Spanish language skills a plus
