When students at Saint Augustine’s University return to campus for the Fall 2021 semester, they will be welcomed with some much-needed relief.
In response to the challenges faced by many students resulting from COVID-19, all student account balances resulting from activity related to Spring, Summer and the upcoming Fall 2021 semesters will be cleared to reflect a zero-balance owed after all federal, state, and private awards have been considered.

What are the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF)?
These are emergency student grants from the federal stimulus Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) passed in December 2020.
Additional guidance from the Federal Government allows Saint Augustine’s University the ability to assist students returning to campus for the 2021-2022 academic year in covering balances on their account.
Who is Eligible to have Balances Cleared using the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF)?
Students who were or are enrolled (taking classes at an institution of higher education) during the COVID-19 National Emergency on or after March 13, 2020.
I am an incoming Freshman, will my balance be covered?
Yes, the University’s Financial Aid and Business Office will review these options with incoming Freshman for FALL21.
What does it mean to have my balance “Cleared”?
After the financial aid process has been completed that includes Federal, State and private aid being accepted by the students and applied to their student accounts, CARES Act HEERF will be used to bring the student account balances to zero.
Does This Mean My Tuition is Free?
No. You must complete all Financial Aid Award requirements for school year 2021 – 2022 and have those funds post to your account to cover tuition, housing and other fees and the balance remaining will be covered.
I am on Academic Probation/Suspension/Warning from the FALL21 Semester – am I eligible?
All students must submit the FAFSA. If a student is on warning or probation, you are still eligible for financial aid FALL 21. If a student has been suspended, they will have to complete the SAP Appeals process to receive Federal student aid funds. Suspended students can qualify for HEERF funds.
Will I Receive a Refund if I apply for a Loan to help with Expenses?
Students will not receive a refund from HEERF Funds, but students can receive a refund from funds derived via student loans.
Will the Spring 2022 Semester Balance be "Cleared”?
No, Spring Balance will not be cleared. Students will be responsible for any balances for 22/Spring if any balance occurs.
