Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get access to the interlibrary loan service?
In order to use the interlibrary loan service, a library account must be created for the person requesting the ILL. Once a library account has been created, please email us at libraryhelpdesk@st-aug.edu with the title, the author, and the edition of the book being requested.
How will I be notified when my interlibrary loan is ready for pick-up?
You will be notified by email when the interlibrary loan book is ready for pick-up. If you are a distance/online learner, the library can also arrange for the ILL book to be sent directly to you. Please note that it may take up to several days for the ILL book to arrive.
Who can access the library course reserves?
SAU students and instructors may access the library course reserves. The library course reserves consist of textbooks and other course readings that instructors have placed on reserve for students to use.
How do I find out if a specific textbook is in the course reserves?
- The full range of books that are on reserve can be found on the course reserves page. In the search box at the top of the page, type in the course number or the instructor’s name. Once you click on the course, the textbooks that are on reserve for that course will show up under “Reserved Materials.”
- Students may also email libraryhelpdesk@st-aug.edu to find out if a specific book is on reserve. Please include the course number and the title of the book in the email. This information can be found on the class syllabus.
How do I log in to the research databases from off-campus?
Students who need passwords to remotely access databases should contact Ms. Tanya Williams: twilliams@st-aug.edu.
What are the hours of availability for the live chat box?
The live chat box is a 24/7 service. SAU library staff will be available on the live chat during normal library operating hours. During non-working hours, Chatstaff librarians will be available to assist students from the chat box located on the library webpage. If the ChatStaff librarian needs more clarification about an inquiry, an email of the chat with the student will be generated and forwarded to SAU library staff.
How do I reserve a space in the library for quiet study or programming?
The third floor of the library is available for quiet study during all library operating hours. However, if you would like to reserve a specific space, please email a member of the library staff to check space availability. A calendar invite will be sent to your email to confirm the space reservation.
How do I log in to the computers in the library?
The computers in the library can be accessed with your SAU credentials (email address and password).
A book I checked out from the Prezell R. Robinson Library is coming due. How may I renew it?
Books from the Main Collection can be renewed in-person at the circulation desk or over-the-phone at 919.516.4145.
Will I be able to check out books from other libraries in Raleigh?
Yes. If you are a current SAU student, staff, or faculty member you may check out books from a Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (CRC) institution library. The CRC institution libraries include Saint Augustine’s University, Shaw University, Meredith College, Peace University, and NCSU. Please contact a member of the library staff for more details.
