The Criminal Justice major provides our adult learners with theoretical knowledge and practical applications of local, state and federal law enforcement related to judicial administration, corrections and security services. Upon completion of this program of study, students will have examined and evaluated the consequences and implications of major past and current social phenomena.
The Criminal Justice major courses included in the Extended Studies Program are designed to:
- Provide students with the skills needed to evaluate ethnicity and its relationship with the criminal justice system
- Ensure that students understand and apply basic research methods including research design, data analysis, and interpretation
- Motivate students to use their work experiences to further develop knowledge about the criminal justice system
- Prepare students to demonstrate an understanding of the three fundamental components of the Criminal Justice System
Major courses are offered on nights and weekends, and are delivered in an accelerated, 8-week format.
