President Suber Welcomes First-Year Students

The energy in Emery Gymnasium was exciting as President Dianne Boardley Suber welcomed the Class of 2017 as well as their parents and family members to Saint Augustine’s University. The program opened with a performance by the Blue Chips followed by remarks from SGA President Ashley Nelson. President Suber then introduced the executive council and acknowledged the faculty and staff. Dr. Suber energized the Class of 2017 with words of wisdom on how they can make their next four years successful. She asked each freshman to stay and remember the acronym KIN, which means knowledge, image and network.

“Here at Saint Augustine’s University, you must remember you are here to gain the knowledge needed in your specific area to be successful,” said President Suber. “Remember your image is everything and first impressions are lasting impressions. Lastly, it is important to network. You must be willing to step out of your comfort zone.”

Following Dr. Suber’s remarks, the freshman class had an opportunity to win door prizes such as Saint’s Augustine University memorabilia and $100. The program concluded with an outstanding performance from the Mighty Marching Falcons that had the Class of 2017 on their feet cheering, clapping, shouting and ready for a great academic year.
