SAU Honors Graduating Senior Louis Keenan Lowndes

Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) is spotlighting Louis Keenan Lowndes, a distinguished graduating senior who will receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the ACBSP-accredited SAU School of Business, Management, & Technology at the commencement ceremony on May 4, 2024. Keenan’s exceptional academic achievements, leadership roles, and commitment to excellence embody the spirit of resilience and dedication upheld by the SAU community.

“Keenan’s journey at Saint Augustine’s University exemplifies the transformative power of education and the spirit of perseverance that defines our institution,” said SAU Interim President Dr. Marcus H. Burgess. “His academic and student-athlete achievements reflect the values of excellence and determination we instill in our students.”

Lowndes, a native of Winston-Salem, NC, has distinguished himself as a Presidential Scholar graduating with honors, a former student-athlete on the football team, and a member of the Gamma Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. In addition, Keenan served as the 10th Mister Saint Augustine’s University. He was also the first SAU student to win the Mister Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). His commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement has set a remarkable example for his peers and the SAU community.

“SAU has been more than just a school to me—it has been a beacon of hope, a nurturing environment that has fostered my growth, and a sanctuary where dreams are encouraged and realized,” Lowndes said. “This institution holds a special place in my heart. I am grateful to be forever engraved in its rich legacy.”

Upon graduation, Keenan will embark on a career with Deloitte, where he plans to apply his education and experiences to impact the business world significantly. His transition from academia to the professional sphere is a testament to his commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.

“To my fellow graduates, I urge you to hold fast to your faith, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18. Our challenges may seem daunting, but they are merely stepping stones to our enduring glory,” Lowndes said. “Let us fix our gaze on the unseen, drawing strength from the knowledge that our trials today will pave the way for our triumphs tomorrow.”

Lowndes’ success story is a beacon of positivity and resilience for the university. His achievements highlight SAU’s commitment to producing well-rounded, accomplished graduates prepared to excel in their careers and make a difference in their communities.
